Kansas woman tries to kill spider with fire, sets home ablaze

Posted: Updated:
A Hutchinson, Kansas, woman found her self charged with arson after she tried to kill an arachnid with fire.

Fire crews told the Hutchinson News that Ginny Griffith, 34, was charged with aggravated arson after lighting a fire in order to kill a spider.

Officials say the woman told them she set towels on fire to try and burn the spider. However, burning the towels set fire to her duplex.

Crews found multiple points of origin for the fire, which they quickly put out.  They say the duplex really only suffered smoke damage.

No word on if the spider made it out safely.
