Two Cowboys picked

STILLWATER - The Oklahoma State Cowboys had two players taken in the NBA Draft.  Marcus Smart was the first with the Boston Celtics taking the 6-3 227 pound point guard.  The drafting of Smart could be a sign Boston plans to trade Rajon Rondo, the Celtics point guard the last several years.
The second Cowboy to go was Markel Brown.  He was taken in the second round by Minnesota and then traded to Brooklyn.  The Nets should be able to use the athletic Brown, who had a 43 inch vertical leap at the NBA Combine.

The Oklahoma City Thunder traded backup center Hasheem Thabeet to the Philadelphia 76ers. The Thunder send cash and Thabeet in exchange for a protected second round pick in 2015 and a trade exception. The move saves OKC $1.25 million that they would have had to pay Thabeet if he had been on the roster August 31st. Oklahoma City now has about $2.8 million in cap space to tinker with the roster that has 14 players. It's expected Philly will waive Thabeet to avoid paying him $1.25 million.
