Board of Regents approves renovation plans for Gaylord Family stadium

The University of Oklahoma announced Wednesday that the Board of Regents has approved a plan from the athletics department for a major renovation of Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
The plan was proposed to the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents to renovate and modernize the stadium. Included in the plans are the enclosure of the south end zone to form a bowl, amenities and upgrades for the fans on every seating level, and the facility used by OU student-athletes will be expanded or renovated.
On the south side addition, there will be a 46,000 square foot plaza and covered upper concourse.
For fans heading up to watch the game, escalators have been proposed and 18 new elevators will be added. There will also be chair-back seating options, expanded concourses, and fan cooling rooms.
The Barry Switzer Center will get 50,000 square feet of more space for student-athletes. Weight room facilities be enlarged to almost 31,000 square feet.
