Maserati Now Calls Oklahoma City Home

Maserati Now Calls Oklahoma City Home

Posted: Updated:

It's a sound you'll be hearing more and more of in Oklahoma.  The sound of a gurgling exhaust.  And it's thanks to the new Bob Moore Maserati dealership in Edmond.

Inside the new building, curvaceous cars: the Ghibli, the Quattroporte, and the Granturismo.  Each sporting a trident badge signifying the Maserati racing heritage.

Brendon Landgren, the General Manager, showed me the heart of the Maserati: a Ferrari designed engine.

"6 cylinders with just over 400 horsepower at 404," he said.  "And they reach up to 454 horsepower."

Next to the show cars, the Design Center with 25 leather and wood samples.

"You can go in here and really get a good feel for what you're looking for," he said. "From paint colors, to wood samples, to carpet and headliners."

Open for just over a week, Landgren has high hopes for the Italian super car here in Oklahoma.

"It's a very emotional car once you get inside and drive it."

So we did, with Landgren at the wheel.  He says selling 10 to 12 cars a month won't be difficult.

"It's the heritage,it's the car, it's the all-wheel drive, and it's the leather."

Then he offered to let me drive.  He didn't have to ask twice.  I jumped into the driver's seat and asked my first question.

"So, where's the start button," I asked. "I don't know where that is."

Then our photographer had to explain the back-up camera.

"That's your rear view camera," he said.

"See, I'm not used to that," I said.  "You don't find these in a 1975 MG Midget."

Once out of the parking lot, I hit the gas. The power was instant.

Landgren says sales of the three Maserati models will take off, too.  He says Oklahomans have changed in the past 10 to 15 years.

"We're not just a bunch of farmers anymore, we want the nice things in life," he said.  "We worked hard and we want to enjoy life!"
