District Attorney decides against retrial of Darrell Williams

Posted: Updated:
A former Oklahoma State University basketball player who had his rape and sexual battery convictions overturned will not be retried.

Darrell Williams was found guilty in July 2011 on two counts of rape and one count of sexual battery. Williams appealed the ruling to the Court of Criminal Appeals, which ordered a new trial.

The court ruled that jurors were exposed to and discussed personal observation of the crime scene. That violated an order by the Trial Court.

Payne County District Attorney Tom Lee said two of the victims who had previously testified during his first trial wanted to "move on with their lives" and did not want to testify again. Lee said because of those wishes, he decided not to prosecute Williams again.
