A South Carolina high school senior got the surprise of his life during his high school graduation last week.

Goose Creek High School senior Nicolas Schott was speaking to his graduating class about his military father and the importance of military families during the ceremony.

Schott believed his father was still serving overseas, little did he know he was waiting backstage to surprise him.

Staff Sgt. Schott made his appearance near the end of the speech causing his son to break down into tears and garnering a standing ovation.

Staff Sgt. Schott has done five tours of duty overseas. He decided to return early to his base in Kentucky after his latest tour in Kuwait.

He says he worked with Goose Creek High School to make it all happen and make the day for his son.
