She may never walk again but this Massachusetts mother's act of love probably save her toddler's life.

Christina Simoes spent her Mother's Day in the hospital with severe spinal injuries. Her pain is evident.

"I am not doing too great but I am alive," Simoes said.

What cheered her up was seeing the love of her life. Her boyfriend brought her toddler, alive and well, to her bedside, bringing medicine better than a doctor prescribed.

"This is the first time seeing him again and it's amazing," Simoes said. "It is so great to see him perfectly fine."

18-month-old Cameron is alive and safe after his mother made the most difficult decision of his life or hers: she jumped out of a third-floor window with her son clutched in her arms.

"I just held my legs out the window, I grabbed him and held him as tight as I could. I kissed him and told him I loved him and then jumped," Simoes said.

It was a painful impact. She lost feeling in her legs as her back broke, and that wasn't all. After the jump, she still wasn't safe.

"I had to try and army crawl with my elbows to get away from all the debris that was falling on us," Simoes said.

Amazingly, Cameron survived with just a bump. Her brave and daring decision prompted an outpouring of support from viewers and readers across the country. Thousands have shared the story on social media with many calling her an amazing mother who defines motherhood.

For Simoes, the price she's paying was wroth it.

"There is a chance I won't be able to walk," she said. "It is so worth it because he is OK."
