OKCPD officer shoots hoops with neighborhood kids

OKLAHOMA CITY -

A mother caught some heart warming moments on camera as an Oklahoma City Police Department officer stops to play basketball with the kids in her neighborhood.

Tawni Messenger shot the video of the officer as he shoots the ball around with the kids and even lifts them up to help them dunk the ball.

Messenger sent the video to FOX 25 and said she wanted to show the good that the Oklahoma City Police Department officers do in her neighborhood.

The Oklahoma City Officer is just the latest officer to serve a community in this way. Across the country, officers have been caught on camera playing with teens in their neighborhood. A San Antonio officer was a mystery man after he stopped his car for a pickup game last month.

Also in Texas, a Rosenberg officer pulled up his cruiser to an apartment complex to play catch with a young boy in January. That event was captured on dash cam video.
