Following an eight-month investigation, law enforcement in Carter County say they've arrested a man for vehicular manslaughter. Officials say this is the third person he's killed while impaired behind the wheel.

Charles Jackson was charged with first degree manslaughter for the death of Carol Coker of Ratliff City in July 2013.

According to officials, Jackson was under the influence of prescription medication and impaired when he went off the road last summer and hit the woman. Coker died from her injuries. Law enforcement say Jackson tried to leave the scene. An eye witness stepped in and stopped him from leaving until the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Carter County deputies could arrive.

OHP recently concluded its investigation and presented to the Carter County District Attorney who charged Jackson with first degree manslaughter. He was arrested and booked into the Carter County Detention Center.

The sheriff's department says this isn't Jackson's first fatal accident. In 1999, he was sentenced on two counts of 1st degree manslaughter after killing two Oklahoma County residents while driving impaired.

He was sentenced to ten years in prison and ten years suspended for each case. Those sentences ran concurrently. He was released in 2004.
