NCAA Tournament play tips off this week, and both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are going dancing.

The Sooners (23-9) received a No. 5 seed in the West region and will face No. 12 seed North Dakota State in the first round on Thursday (6:27 p.m. truTV) in Spokane, Wash.

This is Oklahoma's second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament under Head Coach Lon Kruger.

As for Oklahoma State, the Cowboys received a No. 9 seed in the West Region and will face the No. 8 seed Gonzaga in the second round in San Diego on Friday (3:40 p.m. TNT).

This marks the Pokes' 26th appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1945, which includes 14 Sweet 16s, 11 Elite Eights, six Final Fours, and two national championships.

Oklahoma State is also the first team in Big 12 history to have a losing conference record (8-10) and make the Big Dance.

The Oklahoma City Thunder traded backup center Hasheem Thabeet to the Philadelphia 76ers. The Thunder send cash and Thabeet in exchange for a protected second round pick in 2015 and a trade exception. The move saves OKC $1.25 million that they would have had to pay Thabeet if he had been on the roster August 31st. Oklahoma City now has about $2.8 million in cap space to tinker with the roster that has 14 players. It's expected Philly will waive Thabeet to avoid paying him $1.25 million.

Many people will say you can't get anything out of beating an overmatched opponent.  Oklahoma did play an overmatched Louisiana Tech team but they did what you're supposed to do.  They dominated from the start and won a game that wasn't as close as even a 48-16 blowout suggests it was.
