LAWTON -

A Lawton man was rescued from the city's underwater drainage system after being stuck for two days while looking for a lost $20 bill.

According to KSWO
, the man told police he accidentally dropped the bill into the storm drain and had no choice but to go into the drain after the money.

Once underground the man lost his sense of direction. After two days, a group of high school students walking through an intersection heard a voice coming from a manhole and called police.

The man was rescued from the manhole and was between 12 and 15 feet below street level. He was suffering from dehydration and other minor injuries.

City officials said the pipe the man was found in had a 42-inch diameter. The man was unable to locate his $20 bill.
