Mayor Cornett wins re-election bid over Dr. Ed Shadid

OKLAHOMA CITY -

Mick Cornett has won his re-election bid for Oklahoma City mayor Tuesday.

Cornett faced his toughest battle for re-election against Dr. Ed Shadid. Two other candidates, Phil Hughes and Joe Sarge Nelson, were also on the ballot. Shadid conceded the election as Cornett held an over 13,000 vote lead in the polls with only a few precincts left to report.

With 235 of 235 precincts in the City of Oklahoma City reporting, Cornett took in 65% (31,495 votes) of the vote. Shadid ended the race with 32% (15,739) of the vote.

Nelson brought in .8% of the vote while Hughes took in .7%. Voter turnout for the election was 17%.
