VIDEO: Thundersleet moves into the Oklahoma City metro

OKLAHOMA CITY -

As winter weather moves across the state many residents may be experiencing thundersleet.

FOX 25's Keaton Fox was able to catch thundersleet as it rumbled outside the FOX 25 studio.

The phenomenon happens when spring-like thunderstorms happen during winter storms. Lightning in the thunderstorm causes the thunder, at the same time as the freezing rain or sleet.

It's a rare (but not surprising for Oklahoma weather) event.
