Camera on young pelican catches first flight

Posted: Updated:

A video of the mesmerizing first flight of a young pelican has gone viral.

The pelican was discovered by the staff of an animal conservation group in Tanzania after it had been abandoned by his flock following a big storm.

The staff attempts to teach the young pelican how to fly by running up and down the beach and flapping their arms.

Finally, the pelican's instincts kick in and it takes off. The first flight was caught on film by a GoPro camera attached to the birds beak.
