A registered sex offender has been arrested after authorities in Montana say he distributed child pornography to someone in Montana.

Dana Preston Duncan, 43, was arrested Wednesday afternoon during his weekly check-in at the Oklahoma City Police Department.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, a member of the Montana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force informed them that someone was distributing child pornography from Oklahoma to someone in Montana. As police in Oklahoma investigated, they say Duncan was sending the material and that he was a registered sex offender.

In 1996, Duncan was convicted of one count of first degree rape and five counts of indecent or lewd acts with a child under the age of 16. According to court records, he was also convicted of violating his sex offender registration requirements in 2012.

Duncan is required to do a weekly check-in with the Oklahoma City Police Department and was arrested on Wednesday.

Police searched his phone and reported finding evidence of trafficking and exploitation of children for sexual purposes.

Officials are investigating to determine if any local children were victims.

He was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail for trafficking in children, possession of child pornography, two counts of distribution of child pornography, and violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act.
