Police standoff ends in SW OKC after 4 hours, suspect in custody

OKLAHOMA CITY -

An early morning standoff in SW OKC ends with one man in police custody.

Oklahoma City police say they first got the call at around 2:45 a.m. Thursday near SW Grand & Western.

When they arrived they found a woman running outside of the home covered in blood. The woman told police her son was inside of the home shooting off a gun.

The suspect was alone inside of the home and police arrived on scene. After four hours the suspect finally came out on his own.

Capt. Dexter Nelson with Oklahoma City Police say the standoff ended without any injuries.

"The suspect heard the officers over the PA calling for him to come out and he simply looked out the window it decided he needed to come out of the house and came out on his own."

The suspect says he was sleeping and didn't know police were outside.

The suspect's mother did not have any bullet wounds, but went to the hospital with blunt force trauma injuries. She is expected to be okay.

The man, 29-year-old Jose Gutierrez, was arrested and faces several charges including two assault and battery with a deadly weapon charges, two charges of possession of a felon in possession of a firearm, and a felony charge of domestic abuse.
