Bus driver fights with student on moving bus, gets fired

Posted: Updated:

After a bus driver is attacked by a student, he retaliates and doesn't back down even as the bus full of students continues to plow forward.

The incident happened in the Wisconsin city of Kenosha on Jan. 17. The driver had just picked up students from a high school and told the teenage passenger the bus pass wasn't any good. That's when the teen takes a swing.

The driver, Scotty Wells, fights back and punches the teenager a number of times. As the fight continues, the bus plows into three parked vehicles, one of them several people inside.

The teenager is facing assault charges and endangering safety, both felony charges.

Wells was fired from his job for the incident but the union is trying to get his job back.

"She'll be two and a half in May," said her very proud mother Chelsi Camp. "She's doing great. You wouldn't know it if you couldn't see."

A degenerative eye disease slowly robbed Roger Pontz of his vision.

Diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa as a teenager, Pontz has been almost completely blind for years. Now, thanks to a high-tech procedure that involved the surgical implantation of a "bionic eye," he's regained enough of his eyesight to catch small glimpses of his wife, grandson and cat.
