Caught on cam: officer tackles suspect on bicycle

Posted: Updated:

Almost any NFL fan will tell you the San Francisco 49ers have a stout defense but they may do well to hire this Sacramento police officer once you see his tackle.

It all started when a 19-year-old man allegedly committed an unknown crime at a nearby train station in Sacramento, California. Police arrived but the suspect took off. As police set up a perimeter, a TV news crew pulled on the scene.

With the camera rolling, the suspect hopped over the fence of a home, grabbed a bicycle and started peddling towards the photojournalist. Just then, an officer came out of nowhere.

He left his feet to take out the suspect. A bystander and several more officers joined in to help subdue the man.

The officer who made the crime-fighting leap ended up with a face wound. A separate officer was also injured while trying to climb a fence.
