STILLWATER -

Oklahoma State star Marcus Smart will serve a three game suspension after shoving a fan in the Cowboys loss at Texas Tech Saturday.

Smart and head coach Travis Ford and athletic director Mike Holder addressed the media Sunday after Smart shoved a fan after falling into the crowd in the game against Texas Tech Saturday.

In his remarks, Smart apologized to the Texas Tech fan, Jeff Orr, and his teammates.

Smart also said he takes all of the responsibility for the incident.

Ford said he would not address what was said in the exchange between Smart and the fan.

"Understand that Marcus is a young man who made a serious mistake, but he is a young man who has a great heart." Ford said.

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby announced Smart's three game suspension Sunday in a press release.

"Mr. Smart's actions were a clear violation of the Big 12 Conference's Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct Policy," Bowlsby said.  "Such behavior has no place in athletics, and will not be tolerated."

Texas Tech released a new angle of the incident Sunday. The university also announced that the fan Jeff Orr has agreed to not attend any Red Raider basketball games for the remainder of the season.
