The Oklahoma Sooners got a early gift the day before National Signing Day.  Steven Parker, the top high school football player in the state of Oklahoma, committed to the Sooners.

Parker played both offense and defense in high school but he's projected as safety in  college.  Parker received scholarship offers from dozens of major college programs before settling on the Sooners.  He says it was a tough call.

"There was a time I almost committed to OSU   There was  a time I almost committed to Texas A&M.  Texas A&M was actually high on my list after I visited there.  I told my parents I wanted to go there.  It turns out the DB(defensive back)coach left.  They got a new coach.  He's a good coach but it just didn't fit."

Wednesday is the first day that Parker and other recruits can sign with a school.

If there was any doubt that its always football season in Oklahoma the 43,000 that attended Oklahoma's spring football game should end the debate.
If there was any doubt that its always football season in Oklahoma the 43,000 that attended Oklahoma's spring football game should end the debate. It was the largest crowd for a spring game during the Bob Stoops era and remember unlike some other spring games around the country Oklahoma's spring game is not free admission.

As Oklahoma winds down spring practice its evident that they expect their defense to be pretty good. A year ago the Sooners defensive line was considered a question mark during spring workouts but today head coach Bob Stoops considers it a strength with experience and depth.

Defensive end Geneo Grissom, a star in the Sugar Bowl, is getting time at linebacker while linebacker Eric Striker is getting work at safety.
