Logan County officials, OSBI investigate burned body

Posted: Updated:

The Logan County Sheriff's Department tells FOX 25 deputies are currently investigating a body found burned in rural Logan County.

Around 3:30 PM Friday, the Langston Fire Department was called to County Rd 75 and Hiwassee when a passerby reported what they thought was a grass fire. When crews put the flames out, they reported finding the body.

Immediately fire crews contacted the Logan County Sheriff's Office. Investigators believe the body of an adult male was dumped on the side of the dirt road and set on fire. The victim was also bound.

"Clearly the first thing we're going to have to do is identify the body," said Chief Deputy Richard Stephens.

Chief Deputy Stephens says the body was set on fire shortly before the passerby called and hadn't been burning that long.

Investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying the victim. The victim is believed to have recently gone missing.

Anyone with information on a recently missing person is asked to call the Logan County Sheriff's Department at 405-482-4100.
