'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' takes home best comedy at 2014 Golden Globes

Posted: Updated:

The future looks bright for Andy Samberg and the rest of the cast of FOX's hit comedy "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" after winning Best Comedy at the Golden Globes.

The show beat out several heavy hitters including 2013 winner "Girls", "Modern Family", "Parks and Rec", and "The Big Bang Theory".

The show features Andy Samberg as Detective Jake Peralta is a good enough cop that he's never had to work that hard or follow the rules too closely. Perhaps because he has the best arrest record among his colleagues, he's been enabled - if not indulged - throughout his entire career. That is, until the precinct gets a new commanding officer, Captain Ray Holt (Andre Braugher), who reminds this hotshot cop to respect the badge.

Samberg also won best actor in a TV series, musical or comedy series for his role.

A degenerative eye disease slowly robbed Roger Pontz of his vision.

Diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa as a teenager, Pontz has been almost completely blind for years. Now, thanks to a high-tech procedure that involved the surgical implantation of a "bionic eye," he's regained enough of his eyesight to catch small glimpses of his wife, grandson and cat.
