Firefighters are battling multiple grass fires across Oklahoma Sunday.

The Oklahoma County Wildland Firefighting Task Force was deployed to a grass fire in Logan County around noon Sunday.

The grass fire began near County Road 73 and N. Post Rd.  Several area fire departments were called out to fight the fire.  

The Guthrie Fire Department reports the Logan County fire spanned about 1200 acres. Several out buildings were destroyed in the fire and more than two dozen homes were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

According to Maj. Brian Pursell, with the Del City Fire Department, the Logan County emergency manager requested assistance from the Oklahoma County emergency manager who deployed the Oklahoma County Wildland Firefighting Task Force.  Several different companies were called out to assist in extinguishing the fire.

Additional grass fires have been reported in Canadian County, Logan County and Oklahoma County.

The Edmond Fire Department had several crews out working a large grass fire near NE 220th St. and Hiawassee Road. Oklahoma County Sheriff's Deputies are assisting the Edmond Fire Department in clearing ignition sources near homes.

Fire crews in Grady County have been battling a fire two miles northwest of Rush Springs. Emergency crews shut down roads in the area while the fire was extinguished.
