Michigan police release shocking video as officer shoots at teen

Posted: Updated:

An officer in Michigan has been cleared of all wrong-doing for his role in the shooting of a teen armed with an airsoft gun.

Police released dash-cam video of the November shooting. Officers were called to a report of a man carrying a gun at a party store in Battle Creek, a city about two hours west of Detroit.

In the video, you can see people approaching the cruiser once the officer arrives. Then you hear the officer telling them "let me see your hands" right before chaos breaks out.

The officer fires once at someone off camera and yells "get on the ground". As the officer continues at the scene, a witness yells at the officer "You can't kill people like that. Are you serious?"

What the officer didn't know was the teen was carrying an airsoft gun, a replica firearm that fires plastic pellets.

The 14-year-old victim was hit in the shoulder. The officer was cleared of all wrong-doing but the victim's family is planning a lawsuit.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for western Oklahoma until 11PM Wednesday.  As of now, no part of this watch covers any part of the Metro. A severe thunderstorm watch means conditions for severe thunderstorms are possible, and we've already seen a few storms in western Oklahoma this evening.
