Police: Woman concerned son was assaulted, kidnaps man and slices genitals

An Indiana woman is sitting in jail, accused of cutting her daughter's boyfriend's penis after she believed the teen had molested her son.

Bonita Lynn Vela told police she thought the 18-year-old molested her 2-year-old son. Police say she held him in a trailer in Franklin for more than three hours and slashed his penis with a box cutter.

The teen says he never assaulted the boy. He told police Vela told him he would be tied to a tree, shot in the head and then left to be eaten by animals. The victim then said Vela forced him to drop his pants and told him she might allow him to live if he allowed her to cut his penis.

Police say two other people were involved with holding the man in the trailer but have not made any additional arrests.

The man told police that Vela was "out of control" when she held him for 3 1/2 hours. He said she initially began stabbing the man's penis with a fork but when she couldn't draw blood, she found a box cutter and "cut him deep", said the man, who showed his injuries to police.

The woman finally let the man go after cutting him, he said.

The man told police he was afraid Vela and her acquaintances would "go to great lengths to hurt or kill" him. He was also concerned that someone used a cellphone to record the incident.

Vela was being held in the Johnson County Jail on $28,000 bond.

The man was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injury, its severity was not released.

Police believe Vela had been smoking marijuana prior to the incident.
