Oil and natural gas producers to report chemicals in 2014

Posted: Updated:

As the new year dawns, oil and natural gas producers will soon be required to report chemicals they use in hydraulic fracturing operation.

The Oklahoma Corporation Commission's (OCC) disclosure rule went into effect on January 1, 2013 with two phases. Phase 1 required new wells to report their chemicals while phase two requires all wells to report.

Phase two officially goes into effect beginning Wednesday.

Companies have two ways to report: via the FracFocus website or by providing it to the OCC Oil and Gas Conservation Division staff.
