Oklahoma City Police say a man tried robbing a hair salon at gunpoint on Christmas Eve, only to be beaten by the would-be victims and stripped of his clothes.
Police arrested 23-year-old Corneilyus Howeth in the early morning hours of December 24.
According to a police report, they were called to Head Honchos, a hair salon in the 3600 block of N. Lottie Avenue around 12:30 AM Tuesday morning.
Police say the victims told them they were keeping the salon open late because of the holidays. The owner of the store said he arrived to help close the shop for the night when his sister called from the parking lot saying someone climbed into her car with a gun.
When he went to see what was going on, he told police Howeth pointed a semi-automatic handgun at him and pushed him back into the salon. He said Howeth told him to "empty his pockets" and asked for a man who was not in the salon.
The owner says when Howeth turned his attention to another person inside the store, he took action and tackled the suspect. He said the two fought for the gun while other victims and witnesses inside the shop helped the owner. The owner eventually got the gun and set it aside.
Police say the victims said they then took Howeth to the back of the store and wanted to make sure he didn't have any other weapons so they took his clothes off. The report states they then threw him out the back door into the alley and called police.
When police arrived, they arrested Howeth for robbery with a firearm after conviction of a felony.
No serious injuries were reported.
