Leslie Draffin, FOX 25 Morning News
Leslie grew up in the Palmetto State where she graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina.
She began her career in Beckley, WV, learning almost every job in a newsroom. She was a reporter, photographer, editor, newsroom manager and anchor. After a year and a half- and more snow than she'd ever seen before- Leslie moved back to the warmth of her home state. In Rock Hill, Leslie covered local politics and met several Presidential hopefuls including Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum. One of her fondest memories is sitting down to talk one on one with Charlie Daniels.
Reporting on military issues is especially close to Leslie's heart, since her husband, Cody, proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. This is why she jumped at the chance to move to Shreveport and become the morning anchor and military reporter for NBC affiliate KTAL. While in Louisiana, Leslie covered Barksdale Air Force Base and the surrounding veteran community. Some of Leslie's proudest moments include flying with the Air Force's elite team The Thunderbirds, taking a ride in a B52, and passing the Air Force physical fitness test. Leslie also interviewed countless airmen, wounded warriors and veterans including General Charles "Hondo" Campbell, who spent forty years in the Army and was the longest serving US Army General at the time of his retirement.
Leslie's other passion is animals. In November 2012, she helped kickoff the "NBC 6 Pet of the Week" program which features adoptable cats and dogs from shelters and rescue groups across the ArkLaTex. So far this program has almost a 90% adoption rate and has helped more than 50 dogs and cats find their "fur-ever" homes.
When she's not working, Leslie enjoys spending time with her husband, Cody, and their Great Dane, Gunner. She also loves exercising, cooking, exploring the outdoors, playing the piano and singing. If it's warm outside you'll find Leslie spending time by the nearest pool or lake, swimming, wakeboarding, and just enjoying the sun.
