The Enid Police Department says a man wanted for a murder in its city is in custody in Kansas.
Police say 66-year-old Michael L. Berdahl was arrested in Anthony, Kansas on Tuesday, less than 24 hours after police say he killed a man in Enid.
The Enid/Garfield County 911 Center received a call around 6:50 Monday night to a report of a shooting in the 400 block of West Walnut. The caller said the victim, later identified as 43-year-old David Wimmer, was lying in a pool of blood.
Police, the fire department, and an EMS crew arrived on scene where they reported finding the victim, dead from an apparent gunshot wound to his chest.
Enid Police issued a 'Be On the Lookout' (BOLO) for Berdahl as a person of interest. Officers in the town of Anthony, Kansas pulled him over where they reported finding narcotics.
Investigators from the Enid Police Department drove to Anthony where they say Berdahl admitted to his actions. A firearm that was believed to be used in the shooting was found in his possession, according to police.
He's currently awaiting extradition to the Garfield County Jail and will be held on $100,000 bond.
