Real-Life Grinch steals Christmas presents from Guthrie family

GUTHRIE -

Homemade decorations trim The Glisson Family's Christmas tree, but as the holiday approaches-- even their cat, Striper, knows there's something missing.

"There really is a Grinch that stole Christmas," said Linda Glisson, "and he's right here in Guthrie."

Linda Glisson says she found her car ransacked Friday morning.  When she opened her trunk, her sons' holiday gifts were missing.

Linda says a real-life Grinch took a cell phone for her oldest son Brandon, and an XBOX 360 with Skylanders Edition was meant for her youngest son, Hayden.

"My mom told me what happened," said Hayden, "I was shocked and I got mad."

Hayden and Brandon still remember when Mom told them the bad news.

"I came home from school, and my mom was upset," Brandon recalled, "she was crying."

As a single mom, Linda says it's a struggle for her to make Christmas happen for her sons.

"It wasn't something they took from me," said Linda, "it was something they took from my kids, that was their Christmas."

The Glissons hoped surveillance cameras in the parking of their apartment complex, Pleasant Hill Apartments, would help police catch the Grinch who stole the presents-- but didn't have much luck.

"Whoever did that, I hope they're happy now," said Hayden.

Guthrie Police say there were other cars in the parking lot broken into that night, and they believe teenagers may have stolen the presents.

"It's one thing taking from me," said Linda, "but when you take from my children, you're dead wrong."

It won't be easy to get those presents under the tree-- but Linda says she's determined to keep her family's holiday spirit alive.

"They won't take away our Christmas, because we will be together," she said.

Anyone with information should contact Guthrie Police at 405-282-3535.

Back in 2006, Oklahoma became the last state to legalize tattoo parlors, but teens are still not allowed to get inked. That's not stopping many young people, sometimes finding themselves in dangerous situations simply because they can't wait a few months or years to get tattooed legally.
