3 Oklahomans die in separate traffic incidents Friday

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that three Oklahomans died as a result of separate traffic incidents Friday.

According to the OHP, the first incident occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. Friday just north of Perry on Interstate 35.

A vehicle driven by 70-year-old James Betchan, of Covington, was north bound on I-35 when it ran off the roadway and into a ditch. The vehicle then traveled through a fence and across a pasture before stopping.

Authorities say Betchan was pronounced dead at the scene from a previous medical condition.

The second incident occured at 9:57 p.m. Friday in Tulsa County. A vehicle driven by 41-year-old Anika L. Miles was westbound on 76th St. North when it crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driving in the eastbound lane.

Authorities say Miles was pinned in her vehicle for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. She was pronounced dead at the scene from massive injuries.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle was transported to the hospital in critical conditon.

The OHP believes alcohol played a contributing factor in the collision.

The third fatality occured just after noon Friday in Okfuskee County. The OHP reports 81-year-old Corrine Mclaud, of Dustin, was traveling on State Highway 84 east of Weleetka when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

Mclaud was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa where she later died from her injuries.
