New Mexico state police officer shoots at minivan full of children

NEAR TAOS, NM -

Newly released police dash cam video shows how a simple traffic stop led to police near Taos, NM, firing at a minivan full of children.

The New Mexico state police officer pulled the female driver over, but a few minutes later, the mother behind the wheel drove off. 

When the officer pulled her over again, her 14 year old son got out, but when the officer pulled out his taser the teen got back in the van.

A short time later, the teen got out again and this time rushes the officer, trying to defend his mom.

The mom starts to drive off again, while another officer fires shots at the minivan full of kids.

She led police on a four mile chase before finally surrendering.

The mom is facing charges of child abuse, fleeing from police as well as misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia.

The 14 year old is facing charges of battery of an officer.

New Mexico authorities say the involved officers are under investigation. The officers have not been identified.
