Meteorite caught on deputy's dash cam

Meteorite caught on deputy's dash cam

Posted: Updated:

A Kansas sheriff's deputy was in the right place at the right time Saturday evening as a meteorite streaked across the sky; and it was all caught on his dash camera.

Chautauqua County Sheriff's Deputy Nathan Rees says the meteorite went across the sky around 9:45 p.m. Saturday.

Rees says the entire sky lit up with a green color and he heard two loud explosions during the incident.

The American Meteor Society reports that witnesses across the state of Oklahoma, Kansas and even some in Texas were able to see the meteorite.
