Senator Tom Coburn is making national news after he used an obscenity during a New York Speech to describe the majority leader of the United States Senate.

The New York Daily News reports Sen. Coburn was asked about civility in the Senate on Monday night, the eve of the anniversary of Superstorm Sandy. He said there were some Democratic Senators that he could work with but Senator Harry Reid isn't one of them.

"There's no comity with Harry Reid. I think he's an absolute a--hole," he said.

Coburn reportedly began the name-calling after he was asked about reaching across party lines. He listed some fellow Democrats he's worked with since he began serving in the Senate in 2005, New York Senator Chuck Shumer (D-NY) being one of them.

Reid's office responded to the comments on Tuesday, according to Politico.

"Nothing says ‘comity' like childish playground name-calling, especially from a senator who has not sponsored a single piece of successful bipartisan legislation during his entire Senate career," said Adam Jentleson, a spokesperson for Reid.
