The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a trooper suffered minor injuries after her vehicle was rear-ended by a man who was driving under the influence Sunday.

According to authorities, Trooper Mystal Perkins was sitting at a red light at approximately 2:30 a.m. Sunday at SE 29th and Walker when the incident occurred.

Officers say 26-year-old Juan Gonzalez, of Clinton, slammed his 2008 Ford F-150 into the back of Perkins' vehicle. The force of the crash pushed the trooper's vehicle into the one she was sitting behind.

Gonzalez was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit. He was taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries before being booked into the Oklahoma County Jail.

The suspect was booked on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and drugs, operating a motor vehicle without a valid drivers license, resisting arrest, possession of CDS and leaving the scene of an injury accident.

Perkins was treated and released from an area hospital for her injuries. The trooper is expected back at work within a few days.
