DALLAS -

Oklahoma's three game winning streak over Texas came to an end in shocking fashion.  The 36-20 loss to the Longhorns was highlighted by Texas rushing for 255 yards and gaining 445 total yards.

Texas had the better quarterback with unheralded Case McCoy passing for a modest 190 yards but he also had two touchdown passes and he was a big reason his team converted 13 of 20 third downs.

Oklahoma quarterback Blake Bell was just 12-26 for 133 yards, no touchdowns and he threw two interceptions.

As a team the Sooners only had 263 total yards and never was able to consistently put anything together offensively.

And as good as Texas was on third down the Sooners were just the opposite.  They converted just 2-13.

After winning the last two games by a combined score of 118-38 and never trailing OU never led in today's contest.

After both teams traded field goals on their opening possession's, Texas took the lead for good on an interception by Chris Whaley.  He returned the ball 31 yards to the endzone for a touchdown and the Sooners were playing from behind the rest of the game.

Highlight's for Oklahoma included a 73 yard kickoff return by Roy Finch that led to a Damian Williams touchdown late  in the second quarter.

Defensive end Geno Grissom also intercepted Case McCoy in the fourth quarter and returned it 54 yards for a touchdown and the Sooners final points.

OU falls to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the Big 12.  They return to action Saturday October 19th when they play at Kansas.

If there was any doubt that its always football season in Oklahoma the 43,000 that attended Oklahoma's spring football game should end the debate.
If there was any doubt that its always football season in Oklahoma the 43,000 that attended Oklahoma's spring football game should end the debate. It was the largest crowd for a spring game during the Bob Stoops era and remember unlike some other spring games around the country Oklahoma's spring game is not free admission.

As Oklahoma winds down spring practice its evident that they expect their defense to be pretty good. A year ago the Sooners defensive line was considered a question mark during spring workouts but today head coach Bob Stoops considers it a strength with experience and depth.

Defensive end Geneo Grissom, a star in the Sugar Bowl, is getting time at linebacker while linebacker Eric Striker is getting work at safety.
