Thief targets local non-profit

OKLAHOMA CITY -

A thief targets a local non-profit getting away with more than a thousand dollars in merchandise.

Misty Smith folds clothes at Angel Link Foundation Wednesday morning like usual but Tuesday she got stuck cleaning up after a burglar who targeted the non-profit organization.

"We had to spend the entire day picking up glass and cleaning the shop instead of opening the shop and helping people that were here."

Angel Link serves the community by donating to organizations and the suspect hit up its main source of funding its thrift store near northwest 10th and Penn.

"It's terrible. This that has happened is terrible."

Surveillance video shows a man throw a rock through one of the store's windows then help himself to more than $1,200 dollars in merchandise. To make matters worse the thief took what little cash was left in the donation basket.

"It set us so far back. Now we don't know how to pick up the pieces."

"To think that somebody would do that is sad," said Nitoria Smith, a volunteer at the store.

Nitoria said Angel Link already had families in line for assistance but after the break-in they will have to wait.

"It's sad because they don't get what we told them they would get."

She hopes the surveillance video leads to an arrest.

"I hope that somebody recognizes him and he gets caught."

Misty has her own message for the thief.

"Whatever you do in life will come back and bite you in the bottom."

Angel Link is offering a reward for donations leading to an arrest. If you have any information contact police at 235-7300.
