(AP) -- Jeremy Smith rushed for three first-half touchdowns as No. 12 Oklahoma State routed Lamar 59-3 in its home opener Saturday.

In addition to Smith's 40 yards on 10 carries, J.W. Walsh completed 17 of 30 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown for the Cowboys, who scored on their first three possessions to take a 21-0 lead before the end of the opening quarter after a long week in which a series of Sports Illustrated articles detailed alleged misconduct in the football program dating to 2001.

Oklahoma State (3-0) has now scored a total of 115 points in its last two games, before getting a week off prior to their  Big 12 Conference opener Sept. 28 at West Virginia.

Caleb Berry led the offense for Lamar (1-2), throwing for 114 yards on 18 of 38 passing.
