OKLAHOMA CITY -

As construction around I-235 and I-44 continues, Oklahoma Department of Transportation is reminding everyone to be wary of some closed lanes this weekend.

ODOT says all lanes of I-235 will be closed between N. 36th St. and I-44 starting Saturday night at 9:00 PM. Crews will be out in force to remove the old 50th Street ramp and bridge.

"That intersection... is one of the busiest in the Oklahoma City metro and really carries up to 100,000 vehicle per day," ODOT spokesperson Brenda Perry said.

ODOT urges drivers to plan an alternate route. Perry says drivers should use I-44, I-35, or the Lake Hefner Parkway to avoid the construction.

"Taking alternate routes does sometimes take extra time and we realize that inconvenience, but if they can know before they head out, it will make things a lot easier for them," Perry said.

The closure is expected to last until 5:00 AM on Monday morning.
