Lon Kruger was hired as the head coach for the University of Oklahoma men's basketball team in 2011. Three years later, a new billboard for the Running Rebels features the former UNLV coach.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported the billboard appeared on I-215 in Las Vegas earlier this week. It features UNLV football coach Bobby Hauck alongside Lon Kruger with the slogan "Come to our House".

Kruger left UNLV to come coach the Sooners in 2011.

Dave Rice, who replaced Kruger as the Rebels' coach, was amused by the mistake.

"I thought it was humorous," Rice told the Review-Journal. "It's one of those things that happens. But I'm the last person who would take himself too seriously. … Hey, if Coach Kruger can help us sell tickets, great."

But UNLV's interim athletic director Tina Kunzer-Murphy didn't have a similar response.

"To us, it's not a laughing matter," she said. "We think what happened was the billboard company was doing us a favor by posting the ad but our marketing people never saw it.

"But it's being taken down and we hope to have a replacement with Dave and Bobby up."

The Oklahoma City Thunder traded backup center Hasheem Thabeet to the Philadelphia 76ers. The Thunder send cash and Thabeet in exchange for a protected second round pick in 2015 and a trade exception. The move saves OKC $1.25 million that they would have had to pay Thabeet if he had been on the roster August 31st. Oklahoma City now has about $2.8 million in cap space to tinker with the roster that has 14 players. It's expected Philly will waive Thabeet to avoid paying him $1.25 million.
