FORT MEADE, Md. (AP) -- A judge has recessed the court-martial of Pfc. Bradley Manning until late next week.

Military judge Col. Denise Lind says she will rule on defense motions to dismiss five theft counts when the court-martial resumes Thursday. Then she'll hear closing arguments.

The trial ended its seventh week Friday at Fort Meade, near Baltimore.

Manning has admitted to leaking reams of classified information to the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks. Prosecutors have charged him with a number of crimes, the most serious of which is aiding the enemy, which carries a possible sentence of life without parole.

He has pleaded guilty to some offenses that carry a combined maximum prison term of 20 years.

Lind has scheduled a sentencing hearing beginning July 31.Copyright 2013 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.

“Seeing a broken violin is nothing new to me,” Kyle Dillingham said turning to the shelf of those violins waiting for repair. “They’re all over the place, this is a pretty bad break,” he said pulling out a violin with gaping hole in its shell.  Sometimes a ‘bad break’ is just that for the instrument. Those violins where the repair cost exceeds the replacement value are deemed ‘broken beyond repair.’
