Authorities end Pottawatomie County standoff

POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY -

Authorities have ended a standoff with a man who claimed to have explosive devices and weapons late Friday in northeast Shawnee.

Pottawatomie County Sheriff's deputies were called to the scene in rural northeast Shawnee around 5 p.m. Friday.

Authorities learned the incident was on Sac and Fox tribal land and held a perimeter while tribal police were en route. Police say the man had made suicidal threats and claimed to have weapons and C-4 explosives.

Police were able to convince the man to drop his gun and come to the road. He was then subdued with a taser, ending the standoff just after 7 p.m.
