Behind the scenes of the arrest of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

Posted: Updated:

On Wednesday, the Rolling Stone unveiled its next cover featuring Boston bombing suspect Dzhokar Tsarnaev and ignited a firestorm in the process. In response, a Sergeant for the Massachusetts State Police has released some photos of his own from the day of Dzhokar Tsarnaev's arrest.

Sgt. Sean Murphy, a tactical photographer for the Massachusetts State Police, released several photos to bostonmagazine.com. Sgt. Murphy said he feels the Rolling Stone's cover is "dangerous and insulting to the victims" and he wants to counter the magazine's message.

UPDATE: Just a few hours after releasing the photos, Sgt. Murphy was relieved of duty but the 25 year veteran has not been fired.

Several retailers, including CVS and Walgreens, announced they would not be selling the magazine edition out of respect to the victims.
