NORMAN -

A semi crashes in Norman spilling dangerous chemicals. The fire slowed traffic and forced some evacuations.

I-35 southbound is now clear but northbound will remain one lane through out the night while the area is cleaned up.

Just before 7 p.m. the truck had a blow out of a tire, the driver pulled over and found the truck on fire. The cargo was highway striping paint and was full involved when fire crews arrived on the scene. There is no cause of the fire at this time

Several businesses were evacuated as a precaution because of the smoke,

"They read the placards on the side of the truck and it indicated acid base so crews began evacuating areas to the west of the fire where the smoke was blowing." Norman Fire Department Deputy Chief Jim Bailey said.

No residential areas were evacuated. The truck was from the Texas Blue Thunder Paint Co. and was going from Ennis, Tx to Montana
