Rebecca Schleicher is thrilled to keep her cowboy boots at the front of her closet and spend time getting to know the fine folks of Oklahoma City. She most recently comes to FOX 25 from KCEN in Waco, Texas where she covered everything from wildfires to Fort Hood to corrupt politicians.
Born in Atlanta, Rebecca is a transplanted Georgia peach. And she may be hesitant to tell you but she's a proud Texas Longhorn! It is the Sooner State, after all. During school, she was an active leader in her sorority and on the football field as a cheerleader for UT. She majored in Broadcast Journalism and Government and was invited to become the youngest news contributor in Austin, reporting weekly live reports for Fox 7s morning and Good Day Austin show. Four years, seven scholarships and two degrees later she made her way up I35 to Waco for her first full-time debut as a journalist.
Her most memorable stories include longtime and exclusive coverage of serious allegations against a prominent Central Texas sheriff, reports with wrongfully convicted men about the problem with eyewitness testimony, stories about a city in danger of drying up completely and she really loves those rare, untold stories about the interesting characters who happen to live among us.
Now that Rebecca is on her second stop on I-35 she is so excited to become a part of the Thunder Nation! Please email her with any story ideas, tips or tidbits about the greater Oklahoma area: Rebecca@okcfox.com. She's interested in just about everything, so don't hesitate to get in touch.
