Oklahoma's Lieutenant Governor Declares State of Emergency
At the request of Governor Mary Fallin, Lt. Governor Todd Lamb declared a State of Emergency for 56 counties in Oklahoma due to the winter storm, excessive snow, and severe weather affecting many areas of the state.
Here's a list of the counties included in the declaration: Adair, Alfalfa, Beaver, Beckham, Blaine, Caddo, Canadian, Cherokee, Cimarron, Cleveland, Comanche, Cotton, Craig. Creek, Custer, Delaware, Dewey, Ellis, Garfield, Grady, Grant, Greer, Harmon, Harper, Jackson, Kay, Kingfisher, Kiowa, Lincoln, Logan, Major, Mayes, McClain, McIntosh, Muskogee, Noble, Nowata, Okfuskee, Oklahoma, Okmulgee, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Payne, Pottawatomie, Roger Mills, Rogers, Seminole, Texas, Tillman, Tulsa, Wagoner, Washington, Washita, Woods and Woodward.
“The winter storm has already caused dangerous travel condition in northwest Oklahoma as well as sub-freezing temperatures,” said Lt. Governor Lamb in a press release. “I am urging Oklahomans in the impacted areas to take winter storm precautions and stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary. This is a very serious winter storm and we want Oklahomans to stay safe.”
The Executive Order allows state agencies to make emergency purchases related to disaster relief and preparedness. It is also a first step toward seeking federal assistance should it be necessary.
Under the Executive Order, the state of emergency lasts for 30 days.

Hearing could resume in case of 4 Tulsa deaths

TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- A preliminary hearing for two brothers accused of killing four women in Tulsa could resume soon.
The Tulsa World reports (http://bit.ly/16X0EnM ) a judge is expected to rule on a request that could determine whether James and Cedric Poore's hearing will resume Friday.
Their hearing stalled Thursday after the defense filed a motion to recuse the judge assigned to the case.
Special Judge Stephen Clark denied the motion, as did Presiding Judge William Kellough.
Kellough is expected to rule on the defense's request for time to appeal on Friday morning.
The Poores are charged with murder and robbery in the January deaths of Misty Nunley, Julie Jackson, Rebeika Powell and Kayetie Melchor. The four women were found tied up and shot in the head.
The Poores have pleaded not guilty.
