Kingfisher Prepares for Snow Storm
Some people to the west of the metro are preparing for the winter storm after a warm, sunny Sunday.
In Kingfisher, residents made trips to the supermarket to stock up on essential supplies.
"They told us you better prepare yourself, it could be bad," Kent Glazier said as he waited for his wife to pick up a few things at Walmart.
The city of Kingfisher says its preparing for the storm as well.
"You can't tell on a day like [Sunday] with the beautiful weather were having, but we're paying attention to all of the weather alerts and everything moving in. Our primary goal is safety and maintaining the streets and roads while we maintain all of our other services as well too," said Dave Slezickey, the Kingfisher City Manager.
Slezickey says city crews expect the snow to begin Monday. Once it starts, he says all resources will help clear roads, salt and sand.
"Basically just kind of shuffling around our resources and our personnel to get the job done," Slezickey said.
Slezickey also says they city has a plan to supply power to the city, iIf the primary source is knocked out during a storm.
Residents say they're not worried. They're eager for the snow.
"I hope we get as much as we can because I have a lot of friends that are farmers and ranchers around here," Michael Barcindebar said.
