Controversial Chemical Used in Plastic Bottles
We've been hearing about concerns with the use of the chemical compound BPA for years. Fears of pre-natal damage in babies and unknown side effects in adults has plastic makers removing it from products like bottles and food containers.
However, BPA surrounds us in almost every part of our world. From shower curtains to that beloved new-car-smell, BPA is a part of our daily environment.
The thermal paper used for cash receipts is also a common source of BPA. FOX25 finding that business in the metro, like The Savory Spice Shop on Western, are now switching to BPA free receipt tape to address any potential concerns. Major companies like Office Depot are even giving customers the option of having receipts e-mailed to them as a way to avoid any potential exposure to BPA.

Joplin sending aid to tornado-stricken Moore

MOORE, Okla. (AP) -- Officials in Joplin, Mo., have brought together a team of public safety employees that they are sending to tornado-stricken Moore.
Joplin was devastated by a tornado two years ago. On Monday, Joplin organized a team of about a dozen police and firefighters to assist in Moore.
Joplin City Manager Mark Rohr says his community remembers the assistance it received in 2011 and feels an obligation to lend a hand in Moore.
The team from Joplin is to conduct a needs assessment and help determine areas in which Moore needs further assistance.
Joplin will also work to provide other assistance
