Pauls Valley Enacts Watering Ban

Pauls Valley leaders have enacted a strict outdoor watering ban for all residents. Citizens are not allowed to wash cars, clean structures, sidewalks, fill swimming pools or water plants. "We decided to start water conservation measures immediately," City Manager James Frizell added "We basically banned all outdoor watering." According to Frizell, the two lakes that the city gets its water from are both dangerously low.
If citizens are caught watering they will first get a warning, a 2nd violation is a $250 dollar fine, a 3rd violation a $500 dollar fine. Repeat offenders may get their water shut off.
The new ban may affect the long awaited opening of the cites Aquatics center, a more than $3 million dollar project, "There just is not enough water in our lakes to be wasting it for that," Frizell said. The center is planned to open up in May, "We hope that doesn't occur, but it is a possibility," Frizell added.
City leaders say as of this article they have not written any citations and will use common sense with citizens. The ban will be in effect until city leaders decide to lift it, or the city gets decent rain. "In my 11 years as city manager this is the first time we have had to go to mandatory water rationing," Frizell added.
