City Arts Center Gets a New Name
Officials with the City Arts Center announced Monday the center will change names to the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center.
The new brand was developed during a six-month project aimed at increasing Oklahoma Contemporary's profile as a cultural destination. The new brand is focused on the idea of "creative Connections"
In a press release, Mary Ann Prior, Executive Director of Oklahoma Contemporary said, “Our ambition is to create an art center where everyone can engage with art on their own terms, one where those who want to learn and create are given the tools and opportunities to do so at their own pace. The launch of the Oklahoma Contemporary brand is a key part of our vision to form creative connections within our community, and we are looking forward to an exciting time ahead, launching new exhibitions, education initiatives and even a new building under our innovative brand.”

MOORE, Okla. (AP) -- Parents and guardians of children whose elementary schools were damaged in the deadly tornado that ripped through the Oklahoma City area are hoping for happy reunions.
At least 20 children are among the more than 50 reported dead so far in Moore, an Oklahoma City suburb ravaged Monday afternoon by a tornado with winds up to 200 mph. Officials said early Tuesday the death toll could rise by as many as 40.
Many parents seeking their children gathered at a suburban church, listening intently as someone with a bullhorn called out the names of children who were being dropped off. For many families, the ordeal ended in tears of joy. Others were left to wait in the darkness, hoping for good news while fearing the worst.
